How to Play

Play The Lost World online for free. The Lost World is a dinosaur-themed Mahjong Solitaire game. Clear the stack one pair of identical open tiles at a time. This game uses top and bottom rather than left and right to determine open stones. Play through 2 game modes where you either beat a random selection of 10 stages from the 100 options, or choose which of the 100 board layouts you would like to play 1 at a time. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

On the welcome screen, select Play to begin a round of 10 random levels, or select the Level Select button to choose from 100 different board layouts.
Select Help to learn the game’s rules.
Select High Scores to view the game’s leaderboard.
Select the gear button on the bottom right corner to open the following controls:
- Use the speaker and music buttons to turn the game’s sound on and off.
- Use Reset to clear your game progress.
- Use the drop-down list on the bottom left corner of the screen to choose the game’s language.

      - Tap on the stones with your fingers to select them.
      - Controls and indicators
        The game’s controls and indicators are located at the left side of the screen. From the top, they are as follows:
        Box
        Level number
        Level timer
        Available matches
        Cumulative game score
        First row, left to right:
        Enlarge button: Lets you switch between windowed and full-screen modes
        Pause button
        Second row, left to right:
        Music button: Turns the game’s music on and off
        Speaker button: Turns the game’s audio effects on and off
        Shuffle button
        Undo button
        Hint button
        On the level selection screen are the following controls:
        The game’s levels are shown as icons on the center frame. This is divided into 10 different pages with 10 level icons each, for a total of 100 different levels.
        On either side of the center frame are navigation buttons.
        The bottom row contains the following controls:
        Menu button: Takes you back to the welcome screen
        The page number
        Play button: Starts a time trial game
        Game Play
        Basic rules
        Select 2 identical Mahjong stones to remove them from the stack. The Mahjong stones in this game are based on the silhouettes of dinosaurs and other prehistoric reptiles.
        You can only pair free stones.
        Free stones have no stone above them and at least one side (top or bottom) without an adjacent stone.
        The game helpfully highlights the free stones with a lighter background color and the closed stones have a darker grayish color.
        Typically in Mahjong Solitaire stones must be open on the left or right, but this game mixes it up by using top and bottom to determine free stones.
        Clear the entire stack.
        Game modes
        Levels
        Clear the stack before the timer runs out.
        You start with 2 minutes and 28 seconds on the clock on the first level. Later levels have a longer time limit and more stones.
        You fail the level if you don’t clear all the stones in time.
        You can try again.
        You can also end your playthrough. This lets you save your score in the leaderboard.
        You earn points in this mode.
        Play through 10 levels:
        Levels are unlocked sequentially. Finish one level to unlock the next.
        You always begin the playthrough on the first level.
        Earn as many points as you can within 10 levels.
        Each time you reload the game, you have 2 options:
        Continue from the last level you’ve unlocked.
        Start a new playthrough. This will erase your previous progress.
        Time trial
        Choose a stack to clear.
        The game has 100 different stacks to choose from.
        Clear the stack as fast as you can.
        Your best time is shown below the level icon on the level select screen, with a star rating shown at the top.
        You can replay previously beat levels to try to beat your best time.
        Scoring
        Levels
        Scoring is cumulative in this game mode. Your score from one level carries over to the next.
        Every pair of tiles you clear adds 100 points to your score.
        After finishing, you also receive 30 bonus points for every second remaining on the timer.
        There are 2 ways to save your total score:
        Play through all 10 levels.
        End the playthrough after a game over.
        Time trial
        Your performance is represented by a star rating. The faster you finish a level, the higher your star rating.
        Although you get to earn points in this game mode, they don’t reflect on your final rating.
        Finishing the level brings you back to the level selection screen.
        Assistance
        You get an unlimited number of hints, undos, and shuffles.
        Selecting the hint button will show you any valid pair of tiles.
        Selecting the undo button removes the last action you did. This can help you backtrack and try a different option to open up more tiles.
        Shuffles rearrange the stones on the stack.
        This is useful if you want to make more obvious pairs.
        While you can use the shuffle button to shuffle, the fame automatically shuffles the stack when you run out of valid pairs.
        However, assistance options cost points. Use them sparingly.
        Each undo costs 100 points (i.e. it takes back the points you earned from making your previous move)
        Each hint costs 300 points.
        Manual shuffles cost 500 points. Automatic shuffles are free.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like Mahjong Solitaire tile match games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
