Play Steven Universe Gem Combat online for free. Gem Combat is a puzzle stacking game inspired by Puyo Puyo. Clear more gems than your opponents to beat them. Meanwhile, use your special powers to tip the scales in your favor. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Wait until the welcome screen loads.
From there, choose whether you are playing for the first time or need a tutorial.
- Choosing “I’m a pro” brings you back to the welcome screen.
- Choosing “First time!” will open the tutorial slideshow.
  - You can open the tutorial slideshow again by selecting the tutorial button on the mode selection screen.
  - You can also view the controls by selecting the i button on the upper left corner of the screen when selecting characters and when you pause the game.
  - You have the option to turn off any further notifications.
  - Select the play button on the left side of the screen to begin.
  - On the mode selection screen, pick a game mode (modes are described below in the “Game Play” section).

    - Desktop
      - Single Player
        Use the W key to rotate the gem.
        Use the S key to move the gem down faster.
        Use the A and D keys to move the gem left or right as it descends.
        Use the E key to drop the gem.
        Use the R key to activate your special ability.
        Player 2
        Use the i key to rotate the gem.
        Use the K key to move the gem down faster.
        Use the J and L keys to move the gem left or right as it descends.
        Use the O key to drop the gem.
        Use the P to activate your special ability.
        Touchscreen devices
        Although the game might load on touchscreen devices, its controls were optimized for desktops with keyboards
        Game Play
        Gameplay modes
        You can play the game against the computer or a friend.
        You have two available single-player modes in the game:
        Play story mode
        Here, you play against several other characters, including bosses.
        Defeating the bosses unlocks a new character for single-player mode.
        Play against a computer.
        This is a standard match played against the computer.
        Play against a friend.
        The game has separate controls for 2-player mode.
        Player 1 takes the left side of the keyboard and player 2 takes the right.
        Basic
        Clear out as many gems as you can before your opponent does.
        To clear a gem, drop a star gem of its color adjacent to it.
        The more gems you clear, the more it charges your special ability.
        Avoid accruing too many bubble gems.
        Don’t let your gem stack reach the top of the playing field, or it’s game over.
        Select the pause button on the upper center corner of the screen if you need to take a breather.
        The pause menu will show you the game’s controls.
        From here, you can proceed back to the mode selection screen.
        Bubble Gems
        Bubble gems come in when your opponent clears several gems at a time.
        Each bubble gem comes with a number. You can’t clear it until you’ve dropped the equivalent number of gems.
        You avoid accruing too many bubble gems while substantially removing the ones you’ve stored.
        Special powers
        Clearing gems also activates your special powers.
        Each gem and Steven has their own unique special powers
        Special powers provide you with ways to gain an edge over your opponent.
        Tips and tricks
        If you’re new to the game, play Story Mode first.
        The AI of the single-player modes are difficult to beat if you’re inexperienced.
        Meanwhile, the AI of the opening levels of Story Mode are much easier to challenge.
        Clear as many gems as possible early on in the game to overwhelm your enemy with bubbled gems.
        Try to link the gems together in blocks to maximize your points when you clear them.
        Work fast. The computer player does not play around.
